Starting your own business is big time, but the process and expense don't have to be. At Lehigh Carbon Community College's Business EnterpriseCenter (BEC), students, alumni and community members have access to everything they need to start a business, without the headaches and high expenses. Initially funded through a Coleman Grant, the BEC, which opened in the fall of 2009, offers assistance in starting up a business. Whether that is getting help to put together a business plan or researching business opportunities, trained mentors are ready and willing to lend a hand.

The Center opens the doors for networking and teaches its participants about collaboration and entrepreneurship skills. "Networking is a strong factor in this program,” says Richard Warner, LCCC business professor and project director of the BEC. "If we don't have the answer for your business problem, we can connect you with someone who does.” The Center is also being used as a tutoring resource for business students.
