MCCC, APICS Partner to Offer Certification in Production and Inventory Management

Blue Bell, Pa. - July 20, 2010 — The Center for Workforce Development (CWD) at Montgomery County Community College is pleased to partner with the Philadelphia Area Network (PAN) of APICS, the Association for Operations Management, to offer the internationally-recognized Certification in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM).


An information session about this certificate program will be held on Aug. 10 at 6 p.m. in Presentation Hall, room 101, of the Advanced Technology Center at the College’s Central Campus, 340 DeKalb Pike in Blue Bell. As part of the information session, the program’s trainers will provide an overview of the first two courses, which will be held in the fall. According to Dr. Brook Hunt, director of the CWD at the College, "adding PAN-APICS to its portfolio of workforce development services brings tremendous value for the CWD’s customer base.”


The CPIM program consists of five modules, including the nine-week Detailed Scheduling and Planning course and the eight-week Strategic Management of Resources course, both of which begin in September. Classes will be held at the Metroplex Corporate Center, 400 Chemical Road, Suite 100, in Plymouth Meeting.


Other modules, which begin in February and May, include Basics of Supply Chain Management, Master Planning of Resources and Execution and Control of Operations.


The program is open to both PAN-APICS members and non-members, and customized programs are available to Montgomery County firms on-site through the CWD.


Since 1973, the CPIM program has educated more than 90,000 manufacturing professionals on essential terminology, concepts, and strategies related to demand management, procurement and supplier planning, material requirements planning, capacity requirements planning, sales and operations planning, master scheduling, performance measurements, supplier relationships, quality control, and continuous improvement.
