ith each passing year, Lakeland Community College seems to strengthen its relationships with area businesses and other colleges as it graduates its own students.

That starts with Lakeland’s Workforce Development and Continuing Education division. It houses divisions like the Center for Business & Industry, which has trained more than 4,700 individuals for companies since 1999. The Kirtland college also has collaborated with other schools on grant proposals and curriculum ideas.

Among the chief similarities between businesses and colleges today is the need for creativity and strong allies in the community. Patricia Hoyt, dean of Workforce Development and Continuing Education, recently discussed many of the bonds Lakeland has formed with other entities in recent years and programs they are working on for the future.
