Facebook co-founder to kick off next season of Famous Entrepreneurs Series

Syracuse, NY -- Chris Hughes, co-founder of the social networking site Facebook, will be among the speakers at next season's The Famous Entrepreneurs Series at Onondaga Community College.

Hughes, 25, founded Facebook with Harvard roommates Mark Zuckerberg and Dustin Moskovitz five years ago and founded, the online networking site for supporters of President Barack Obama.

Initially designed for college students, Facebook has expanded and is now one of the top social networking sites on the Internet.

Hughes' lecture on Nov. 17, the opening session of the series's fourth season, will focus on his personal successes, management strategies and visions on how to transition companies from good to great.

The lecture series is a nonprofit, member driven organization formed in 2006 to foster entrepreneurship in Central New York. They are held at 5 p.m. at OCC.

The other speakers at next season's series will be:

• Jan. 12: Tom Kelley, general manager at IDEO Product Development, which specializes in designing cutting-edge products such as the Apple Mouse, and author of "The Art of Innovation" and "The Ten Faces of Innovation."

• March 24: Vijay Govindarajan, the Earl C. Daum 1924 professor of international business, funding director of the Center for Global Leadership at the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College, professor-in-residence and chief innovation consultant for General Electric, and author of "Ten Rules for Strategic Innovators."

• May 19: Marilyn Carlson Nelson, chairman and former chief executive officer of Carlson Cos. and author of "How We Lead Matters."
