Young Entrepreneur & Inventor Workshop Winners Announced

Mason City, IA – April 15, 2009 - The NIACC John Pappajohn Entrepreneurial Center hosted a regional Invent Iowa workshop in late March for students from the North Iowa region in 3rd through 7th grade, and the winners will move on to the state competition in Ames on April 25th.

“The workshop was a fun-filled morning to help the students prepare a business plan for their invention at the state level, a notable step towards a successful invention,” Tim Putnam NIACC JPEC Associate Director, said.

Invent Iowa encourages creativity and the inventive spirit in our Iowa youth. It guides Iowa educators towards the involvement of their students in innovation and the invention process. Invent Iowa’s goal is to have a long term affect on Iowa’s economy by supporting youth through this process.

Winners who will advance and also participated in the regional workshop include: 
CAL – Burke Colglazier; Forest City – Carrie Brcka & Cheyanne Chapin; Hampton-Dumont – Levi Noah & Trevor Craig; Lake Mills – Adam Heimendinger; Mason City Harding – Angela Eppens; Mason City Hoover – Alyssa Callow; Mason City Roosevelt – Joshua Hansen & Natasha Orton; Northwood-Kensett – Lance Fridley & Carson Wright; Ventura – Joshua Chizek & Chase Theobalt; and West Fork – Jonah VanHorn

The John Pappajohn Entrepreneurial Center is located on the North Iowa Area Community College campus in Mason City, Iowa, and provides college level courses and degree programs in entrepreneurship, as well as consulting services for business start-ups and existing industries in the North Iowa region.  The Center also provides FastTrac® training programs for beginning companies and existing companies.  For more information, contact the NIACC JPEC at 641-422-4111.
