Delaware Tech Hosts Successful Entrepreneurship and Small Business Conference

Dover, DE – March 9, 2009 - Delaware Technical & Community College, Terry Campus, in conjunction with Central Delaware Business and Entrepreneurship Consortium, hosted the 2nd Annual Entrepreneurship and Small Business Conference entitled “Starting, Growing and Sustaining Your Business” on February 25, 2009. Participants included business owners, potential business owners, Central Delaware Chamber of Commerce, Delaware Economic Development Office, Downtown Dover Partnership, SCORE Delaware, Delaware Center for Enterprise Development at Delaware State University, Delaware Small Business Development Center, Kent Economic Partnership, PNC Bank, YWCA DE Center for Women’s Entrepreneurship and U.S. Small Business Administration.

Keynote speaker was Alan Levin, Director of the Delaware Economic Development Office, who provided guests with information and his rules to running a successful business. Guest speakers John Orona, President and CEO of Shortcutz Lawn & Landscape Associates, Inc; Jane Richter, Owner/Director of The Little School, Inc.; Eric Schaeffer, President and CEO of Advantech, Inc.; and Marion Young, Majority Owner of Brightfields, Inc. provided personal business experiences and lessons learned to a well-attended audience. 

Evie Zerefos is the instructor of the Entrepreneurship Program at the Terry Campus and was the presenter of the forum entitled “Fundamentals of Establishing Your Business/Meeting Your Financial Obligations.” She informed attendees about the fundamentals that every successful business is built on and explored the local resources available to assist those interested in opening a new business.

Zerefos has over 15 years of entrepreneurial experience that she shares with her students and colleagues.
