Kahului, Hawaii – October 2, 2008 - Escape to Maui in the comfort of your own kitchen with Taste of Maui, a new and mouth-watering cookbook from the nationally renowned Maui Culinary Academy at Maui Community College. From the traditional Hawaiian Ahi Poke to twists on traditions such as Lemongrass Créme Brulèe, Taste of Maui is a diverse collection of recipes—created, shared, and prepared by Maui Culinary Academy graduates as well as chef instructors. Taste of Maui also boasts over 30 beautiful photos as well as artwork contributed from renowned Maui artist, Ed Lane. 

Taste of Maui features many of the dishes featured in the Academy’s student-run Paina Food Court and Leis Family Class Act Restaurant, noted as serving up the “best cheap eats on Maui” by The San Francisco Chronicle.  These recipes will satisfy even the most sophisticated palate; after all, the Academy has prepared many of Maui’s most prominent chefs including Noel Badello of Duo at The Four Seasons, Maui and James McDonald, Executive Chef of the award-winning Pacific’o.

Ranging from pantry food to delectable desserts, Taste of Maui features reci¬pes that appeal to those looking to prepare an island dish with a tempting twist or preparations aimed for a special occasion. Most recipes include ingredients that are widely available.

Maui Culinary Academy is a world-class culinary arts training center located on the beautiful valley isle of Maui.
