Girls manufacture fun at NWTC's Dream It, Scheme It, Make It, Take It Camp for Girls

Program teaches technical skills to 50 students


The sixth-grader already had gone through several of the flimsy blades while trying to make a metal bracelet.

"Fun, but frustrating," Adler said of the activity at Monday's "Dream It, Scheme It, Make It, Take It Camp for Girls."

The program at Northeast WisconsinTechnical College in Green Bay teaches manufacturing skills to girls entering fifth through eighth grades by letting campers make their own jewelry. The camp meets 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. this week through Thursday.

The camp is part of a nationwide series of summer manufacturing camps coordinated by Nuts, Bolts & Thingamajigs and the National Association for Community College Entrepreneurship, which works to improve entrepreneurial education at community colleges.
