Spartanburg, S.C. – April 3, 2009 –Jeffreys Manufacturing Solutions has opened a new Southeast region showroom at the Spartanburg Community College Tyger River Campus in Duncan featuring vertical and horizontal machining centers produced by OKK USA Corporation of Japan.

OKK, Jeffreys and SCC announced the grand opening of the showroom at a recent press conference and open house at the SCC Tyger River Campus. Demonstrations of several OKK machining centers and showroom tours were also conducted.

“OKK, Jeffreys and SCC are happy to announce the grand opening of the new showroom,” said Yoshitomo Naka, sales manager for OKK USA Corporation in Glendale Heights, IL. “OKK and Jeffreys have opened the showroom on the SCC campus despite the economic slowdown to show support for the Southeast region of the U.S.”

The 10,000 sq. ft. showroom/technical center will be used for Jeffreys’ turnkey projects and customer training. OKK and Jeffreys application engineers will train SCC instructors on this state-of-the-art equipment so the instructors can provide training to SCC students and Jeffreys/OKK customers. Application engineers from OKK and Jeffreys will also work with SCC instructors to develop a curriculum for students. As a result of this partnership, SCC is considering the development of a Master Machine Tool program of study that will offer a certificate or degree.

“This partnership between SCC, Jeffreys and OKK will allow SCC students the opportunity for hands-on training on OKK products that will ultimately make them more valuable employees for local industry after they graduate from SCC and enter the workforce,” said Mike Forrester, SCC’s director of economic development. “The showroom will also bring visitors to the Spartanburg area from several southeastern states and Japan, which is critical as all three organizations seek to expand business partnerships and promote the Upstate as a competitive, thriving location for new and expanding business/industry.”

“This commitment from Jeffreys, OKK and SCC will bring to students, customers and the community gains in knowledge, product development and a well trained workforce. This will result in Southeast manufacturers achieving accelerated market share gains in a global, competitive marketplace,” said Jeffreys President Brooks Barwick,

The showroom is located at 1875 East Main Street in Duncan and will be open Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
