Angeline Godwin Joins NACCE Leadership Team

MARTINSVILLE, VA – January 15, 2014 – The National Association for Community College Entrepreneurship (NACCE), the nation’s leading organization focused on promoting entrepreneurship through community colleges, has announced the appointment of Dr. Angeline Godwin to its board of directors. Dr. Godwin is president of Patrick Henry Community College (PHCC) in Martinsville, Virginia.

“We are pleased that Angeline Godwin has accepted our invitation to join the NACCE Board of Directors,” said Dr. Edwin Massey, chairman of the NACCE board and president of Indian River State College in Fort Pierce, Florida. “She brings insight and a great deal of experience to the fast-paced world of entrepreneurship development at our community colleges.”

“Fully committed to the mission of NACCE as the national voice for community colleges that are striving to be and become entrepreneurial, I am delighted to have the opportunity to serve on the board,” said Dr. Godwin. “The organization brings true value to our college as we work to improve student success, realizing that an entrepreneurial mindset provides a foundation of success inside and outside the classroom.”

Dr. Godwin is the third president of Patrick Henry Community College. A “serial entrepreneur,” she has started and owned several successful businesses and served as a managing member of a family-owned business in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. Previously, she was president of The Area Development Partnership, the chamber of commerce and economic development organization for the counties surrounding the Hattiesburg area. She was also vice president for research and development at the University of Southern Mississippi and president and chief executive officer of the Mississippi Technology Alliance and the Institute for Technology Development. Dr. Godwin was president of the Ashland Community and Technical College District in Ashland, Kentucky.

The National Association for Community College Entrepreneurship (NACCE) is an organization of educators, administrators, presidents and entrepreneurs, focused on inciting entrepreneurship in their community and on their campus. NACCE has two main goals: 1. Empower the college to approach the business of running a community college with an entrepreneurial mindset; and 2. Grow the community college’s role in supporting job creation and entrepreneurs in their local ecosystem.

Founded in 2002, NACCE is at the heart of the "entrepreneurship movement.” Through membership, an annual conference and exhibition, regional summits, a quarterly journal, monthly webinars, a dynamic list-serv, and training resources, NACCE serves as the hub for the dissemination and integration of knowledge and successful practices regarding entrepreneurial leadership, entrepreneurship education and student business incubation. These initiatives and resulting actions advance economic prosperity in the communities served by its member colleges. NACCE is a founding member of the White House-led Startup America Partnership.
