HP LIFE Faculty Ambassadors Program Application Process

To ensure the success of this new initiative, HP LIFE e-learning Faculty Ambassador applicants must meet the following criteria to be considered:

  • Active NACCE member in good standing
  • Demonstrated experience in integrating technology in the classroom
  • Active full or part-time faculty at an urban or rural community college serving diverse populations
  • Active user of social media for professional purposes
  • Authority and ability to rapidly integrate HP LIFE e-Learning into existing curriculum in fall of 2013
  • Support and endorsement by their President


In Collaboration with HP and EDC and in addition to using HP LIFE in teaching their courses in the fall of 2013, the HP LIFE Faculty Ambassadors would be asked to contribute to some of the following activities:

  • Blog on the NACCE website (ongoing throughout project) about technology in the classroom, e-learning and teaching entrepreneurship, HP LIFE, student progress and perceptions of online learning
  • Promote blogs through professional social media channels
  • Co-facilitate webinars through NACCE platform
  • Contribute to NACCE’s quarterly journal (ongoing)
  • Work with college’s Institutional Research department to collect student data to understand student profiles
  • Administer pre-test to students
  • Administer post-test to students
  • Provide feedback to project evaluator
  • Complete a case study on experiences of using HP LIFE e-learning in classroom
  • Actively partner with alumni department
  • Share HP LIFE e-learning related success stories from students and educators to be featured on the HP LIFE sites
  • Participate in NACCE Annual Conference (October 13-16, 2013) to promote HP LIFE e-learning

Obligations and Benefits

HP LIFE Faculty Ambassadors will use HP LIFE as part of their coursework int he fall of 2013. There are a range of ways to use this on-line learning to enrich the teaching and learning experience,"HP LIFE can be used in the classroom the following way: Facilitator as 1:1 Coach, Facilitators as Group Coach, Flip the Classroom, Supplement to Existing Course.”

HP LIFE Faculty Ambassadors must be available to participate in an in-person training on Wednesday, August 14th at 9am through Friday, August 16th at noon.

It is expected that HP LIFE Faculty Ambassadors will attendNACCE’s Annual Conference in Charlotte, NC, from October 13-16, 2013. Participation in this event will allow the Faculty Ambassadors to share and discuss their findings, as well as promote HP LIFE e-Learning
Please note:
 All expenses related to attendance and participation in Annual Conference will be the responsibility of the Faculty Ambassador.

HP LIFE Faculty Ambassadors will have monthly teleconferences with NACCE staff and the project evaluator to discuss progress in their applied research.

Faculty Ambassador appointments are effective August 1, 2013, and end on January 31, 2014.HP LIFE Faculty Ambassadors will be paid a total stipend of $3,000, paid in $500 increments over this six month appointment. Ambassador appointments may be rescinded at any time if an individual is unable to meet the obligations associated with the position. Should an appointment be rescinded, the Ambassador will forfeit the rights to any future payments of the $500 monthly stipend.

Applicants will be required to provide the following:

1) A cover letter detailing:

  • How you meet eligibility requirements
  • Your ability to fulfill project responsibilities. Please include:
    o How HP LIFE will be used in the course (flip the classroom, homework)

    o The reasons for your interest in this project

    o Your vision for technology within the classroom, and how it supports students interested in pursuing economic self-sufficiency through entrepreneurship

2) Please upload a Curriculum Vitae that includes the following information:

  • Education
  • Academic and/or administrative positions
  • Summary of scholarship (publications, presentations, creative works)
  • Professional contributions to the use of technology in education
  • Professional contributions to NACCE (including volunteer service, conference presentations, board service, etc.)

3) Social Media Links: three links to social media site that you use for professional purposes (i.e. LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, blogs, etc)

4) A letter of support from your college’s President or Chief Academic Officer demonstrating the following:

  • Administrative support for your participation in this project
  • Institutional willingness to share data and results that support the project goals of improved student learning outcomes, increased job possibilities, and enriched teaching experiences via curriculum possibilities & pedagogies
  • Institutional support for the integration of technology – particularly open online content – into the existing curriculum
