Jim Correll has owned and worked in small businesses for the last 25 years, starting with a professional photography business in Western Kansas in the 1980’s, followed by 15 years in manufacturing, working in areas of purchasing, planning, contract administration and database management. He worked for an Internet catalog business before moving to Southeast Kansas in 2000 to become a receiving manager and later inventory manager for in Coffeyville.

In 2006 he is joined the staff at Independence Community College in Independence, Kansas to become the facilitator/business coach of the new Successful Entrepreneur Program.  In the fall of 2012, he launched the first “Entrepreneurial Mindset” (EM) course using the revolutionary “Ice House” entrepreneurship curriculum.  A growing circle of “entrepreneurial thinkers” made possible the opening of Fab Lab ICC in October, 2014.

Correll serves as the director of Fab Lab ICC and facilitator/business coach of the Successful Entrepreneur Program.


Tim Haynes and his wife, Emily, have two foster children (and a baby on the way), and they live in Independence, Kansas. Prior to working at ICC, Tim performed research on straw-bale architecture, which culminated in a master’s degree in Sustainable Communities from Northern Arizona University.

In August 2014, Tim Haynes became Lab Manager at Fab Lab ICC, where his daily responsibilities include machine maintenance, educational outreach, new member orientation, and supervising volunteers and student employees. With no technical background, but an entrepreneurial mindset, Tim was able to learn all of Fab Lab ICC’s machines and software in less than 6 months, with minimal training.
